PROJECT 6

Moreno/Morena was created to accompany my dissertation that was about “the impact of Graphic Design on Skin Whitening in the Philippines. Where I cover the history of colonialism within the archipelago and how adverts/posters have influneced many Filipinos to lighten their skin to fit the social norm. Moreno/Morena is an editoral book which highlights the experience of the young filipino generation through Skin.

All the responses are from a survey I had published online for anyone to answer. Many of the responses were saddening. However, I thought it would be very important for the reader to see true and authentic responses. It is such a personal project for me, as for me and many young filipinos growing up, where told to use whitening products so that we could fit the standard. But now we must take a stand against this idea that was form from many years of colonialism. This project is a piece of my soul. Here is Moreno/Morena
