PROJECT 5
"Maryjane" is an editorial book that delves into the world of the psychoactive plant, marijuana. This comprehensive exploration covers the plant's historical significance, delves into the pervasive stigma surrounding marijuana, and highlights the efforts of individuals working to change society's perception of it in the modern age. The book is not an attempt to glorify the plant but rather to enlighten and educate readers about it. During the research process, I meticulously gathered intriguing and pertinent information, focusing on key points that I believed would captivate readers, drawing them to each page with a sense of purpose and curiosity. Through these carefully curated insights, "Maryjane" aims to provide readers with a thoughtful and informed perspective on this complex and controversial topic.
You will find four chapters within the book, each chapter being a different perspective of the plant. It is doesn’t matter how the reader flicks through but rather, them learning about different aspects of the plant. Each chapter has significant into how i ended up creating this project and are all important to educating the reader on the plant.
Chapter 2 is my personal favourite. The Sisters of the Valley, are a group of nuns located in California, who produce medical marujuana for anyone who suffers from anxiety, pain etc. They consider themselves modern day healers and herbalist. Eventhough, they are known as weed nuns, they do not claim to be part of any religious order. The main reason I decided to include them is just because of how pecuilar I thought it would for the reader to flick through and see these “weed nuns”. It just really quite funny.
